We arrive in Baden-Baden sometime between 18:00 and 19:00. We arrive at the hotel door to find a note saying to pick up the keys at the restaurant across the way. Alan walks over asks for keys and the gentleman kindly gives them to him. Mind you we have not paid a dime for the room and he has no idea who we were. That is the difference between Europe and the States.
We go up to our room which is quite European traditional. There were 2 twin beds pushed together with duvets for each. The windows opened all the way or tilted and the doors opened the wrong way of the US. There was an armor to boot.
We settled and walked down the street to try to hit the market we saw on our way in. By the time we arrived, it was closed so we headed back up the street to the restaurant we picked up the keys at.
We sit down, expecting German food but end up with Czech food. A bit unsure we both order. I got roasted sirloin in a cream sauce. It was known as the meal of kings and boy was it good. Of course it came with dumplings that were outstanding. We head to Lowenbrau for drinks and dessert. It began raining while we were there and where was the umbrella? Oh in the hotel room. On our way back, we splash puddle to puddle, laughing like school girls all the way to the hotel. We retired to bed for the next day was to be busy.
